If it makes you happy to show them off, rather like having a Renoir in a secret room you only show the elites.
Have a friend who has well over 200 great single shots, 50+ Popes alone. He shoots them ALL as that's what they were built for.
Look at all the major auction houses and see the huge collections of very fine guns being sold off by the relatives of the guy who collected them.
Perhaps if I had a 1 in 1000 NIB, I'd not shoot it, but a 1 in 100 would go to the range and hunting. That would make your's more valuable.
Perhaps you've missed that the prices of Colt and Winchester collectible is falling every year. The younger generation no longer cares.
As for my modest collection of M 70s, they have all been shot and will be as long as I can. If they lose value, it won't be my problem.

How the Winchester target rifles shoot? Any accuracy / range reports?

I'm not an expert on Winchester nomenclature, but functionally the Win M70 Targets were 308 or 30-06 and (300H&H for long range)...because during their run, that's all that was allowed in NRA Highpower Rifle. The 220 Swift, 243 and 270 are more Varmint Rifles in my mind. The 243 NYNY illustrates has no front sight base which is indicative that it was shot with a scope only...another indication that it was not a Highpower competitive rifle.

During my time in Highpower there were terms like "Bull Gun" additionally used, but I was too young to know if it was actual Winchester nomenclature or just highpower slang being used.

Roger Rule is somewhat local to me. I'll have to try to grab him and get up to speed on the Model titles.

Functionality aside, over the years Winchester catalogued pre M70 Target Rifles in .22 Hornet, .250-3000 Sav., .270 W.C.F., .30-06, 7mm, .257 Roberts, .220 Swift, 300 H&H Magnum and .35 Rem.. Heavy Weight Target Rifles were also catalogued in .243 Win. and .30-06.

Bull Guns were catalogued in .30-06 and .300 H&H magnum.

A National Match rifle was catalogued in .30-06.

Thank you Poconojack. I learned something new from you. A friend with a few more years than I said similar. Additional bits; a clip slot was a more reliable indicator of intended purpose. And Winchester was often amenable to doing custom one offs…especially if you were a “name” shooter.

Was out bid last month on M70 22 Hornet Target rifle. 5 grand was a bit too much for me.

Just found M70 "Heavy Varmint Rifle", push feed stainless/synthetic 308.
