Looking for info on scope above. Looking at the reticle info chart...the chart says the illuminated dot is 2.16in at 100yds. Is this a misprint or is it correct? I'd like to hear from anyone that might have shot this scope at 100, 200 etc. Thanks, powdr

That's about the size of the 4C in other offerings from Meopta, so it likely is correct. That huge dot, combined with the fact that lowest intensity level of illumination is a tad bright, have steered me away from the 4C completely. I've had three of the 3-12x56 with the 4-C and have used them successfully, but I did not care for the setup at all. The one consolation is their illuminated BDC-2 and BDC-3, which have a dot about a third that size. The bad news is that those two reticles -- without illumination -- aren't great in low light and are too busy for my taste, so you're just left with the illuminated dot when the light is extremely low. So if under very poor lighting you lose the illumination for any reason, you'll likely lose the shot opportunity.

Bobby, the 2.5-15 BD 4C according to the chart is .83 which would be more appealing to me. The dot on the 3.5-10 doesn't look that large w/o illumination but appears larger when lit. Thanks for your honest opinion. powdr

Also keep in mind that Meopta is not consistent in what power they refer to when it comes to the size of the reticles. Some they list at 4x, some at 6x, etc.

The red dot is 2.16 at 100 yards at 4X magnification on the now discontinued Meopta MeoPro 3.5-10x44 RD 4C scope.

exactly the reason i went with the 4k ret from meopta. not exactly optimal if you are wanting a really small dot but to me better than the 4c huge dot.

It appears that the above MeoPro is the only 4C reticle with a red dot that large.

I “Had” a 3.5-10x44 RD. The dot was definitely NOT 2.6 at 100 yards. From memory, I’d wager it wasn’t larger than a MOA and slightly less I believe. In fact it was so small you’d lose it near dark if the illumination wasn’t on.

I love the non-illuminated Meopta Meopro 3.5-10x44 and if the 4c was optically the same then I’d still have it.

The 4c version was like looking through a paper towel tube compared to the non-illuminated version. The “tunneling” effect was very pronounced on lower powers. If one never compared them side by side then it might not be an issue but once you do compare them, there’s no way I could be content with the 4c version.

I love the non-illuminated version and still have several of them but the 4c isn’t the same scope. I know that sounds odd but that was my experience.

The dot does not look to be 2.16 at first glimpse. I haven't tried it in the field but will as soon as I can. Thanks guys, powdr

It isn't the only one. The 3-12x56 R1r had a dot quite similar.

It isn't the only one. The 3-12x56 R1r has a dot quite similar. The 7x56 I had was well over MOA also. Am having either computer or connection issues since yesterday. Will be back later -- hopefully -- regarding subtensions and magnifications.

Sorry for the delay.

Instead of trying to explain, I copied the screen from Swaro's ballistics calculator & reticle subtension page. These are the subtensions for the Z3 3-10x42/plex at both 4x and 10x at 100 yards. You can see how much more coverage there is at the lower magnification in this 2nd focal plane scope. Also, the distance between heavy portions of the bars will vary significantly at different magnifications.

No problem. Again, my apologies for the delay. Between fighting health issues and whatever was wrong with my computer/connection, I forgot to come back to this thread.

Gotta love that photobucket Bart. First thing that pops up is them wanting money. No picture either, unless you sign in. Use Imgur Bart.
