Interesting stuff......

Great game for showing if you're weak from there in. Doesn't show if you're weak getting to that point. If you shoot par, 1/2 your shots on average are on/at the green so it is key, but if it takes you twice as many to get there as it should, a great short game won't save you.

Yup.

Drive for show, putt for dough only applies to people who get off the tee, in play, without penalties.

A stroke is a stroke, and you don't take stroke+distance penalties on the putting green

The main difference nowadays in the game than when I started playing g 30 years ago is that the driver is sometimes the easiest club in the bag to hit. Technology has done amazing things for the driver.

Yes, that is true about the enhancements, but it is still the club most likely to get you in trouble !

All I know is that, regardless of the gear, you still have to stand over the ball and put a good swing on it.

All the tech in the world doesn't turn a hosel-rocket into a hole-in-one.

Yes.

Hobbies are bad.

Especially outdoor hobbies that include epic amounts of smack talk among friends.

Yeah, golf is one of those things that a lot of people don't have the basic ability, physical or mental, to become decent at.

Had a buddy fly in for a fundraiser event at my daughter's school a week ago. We included her on the team and had a blast. Did not win but we all golfed pretty well and the course we played was beautiful.

Ended up playing five rounds in five days on four courses and I have to admit that high 80's have become pretty easy for me to achieve. My new goal is to break into the 70's.

I bought a used Hybrid 6 that has really helped me on the 140-145yd range. I hit that sumbitch straight as an arrow.

I couldn't agree more.

That driver you sent me has really, really, upped my game. I had a big dog leg right last week and I did something I'd only seen on TV. I launched that sumbitch from the tee box over the trees and right into the middle of the fairway about 125yds from the green.

Straight tee shots with either my driver or 3 wood have been turning double bogeys into single bogeys and single bogeys into pars. Adds up quick.

Do you walk or ride ? Our course allows us to use our own carts. Storage shed will cost me 150.00/yr. I can be off work @ 3:30 and tee off by 3:45.

Had to do yearly maintenance yesterday. The cover comes off in 2-3 weeks when the rain is over.

Walk vs Ride depends on whom I'm with. Me and the GF or me and the brother - we walk. Others involved. Ride.

I may have said it elsewhere but I had a sweet set of clones from Pinemeadow about 15 years ago. Sold to a friend. Out of golf. Back into golf recently. Rented, bought another set of Giga golf last year. Played 1 round on them.

Not nearly as good as the name brand I rented or the old Pinemeadow's. AT ALL.

So was looking for a new set - may as well spend the $$ and go name brand. Thinking Callaway irons (Big Bertha) and Ping woods. I'm keeping my Betti as a putter.

Ride.

People that use golf as “exercise” annoy the fugk outta me.

Unless it’s a course that has designated walking hours. Then by all means.

Personal preference. Most people who walk are faster than people in carts anyway, so it really doesn’t matter.
