I have heard on the old model the 3-12 had a more forgiving eye box vs 4.5-18

yes and no.
i think the compromise is field of view.
the 3-12 has narrower field, so while the eyebox is more forgiving left to right i don't remember it being significantly better forward and aft. that's off of memory, don't have either currently.
a 3.5-15 would have been golden for if they could have kept the 3-12 foot print. and maybe a floating dot.
but that's my taste.

Guys, laroche3 is a friend of scenarshooter and senderoman. He was invited to join here. I had the pleasure of laying in the dirt shooting next to him for 2 days at the icebreaker. Bud is a hell of a rifleman and all-around great guy....... That's good enough for me. Thanks mike r

My only complaint, and one that I was hoping they would take care of, is the tiny set screws that lock the ele turret in place. I was hoping they would fix those on the next gen models.
I haven't had any problems yet, but always think about it when I'm moving my zero.

NDB:
I'm with you on the 3-15 on the 3-12 frame being a sweet spot.
Between the 2 former offerings, I prefer the 3-12 for all around big game use. I rarely get over 9-10X in the field, and the FOV on 3 is plenty good enough for close encounters in thicker cover. To my sensibilities, the reticle is the best FFP reticle I've experienced for close and long range big game hunting.
To me, a near perfect big game scope would be the 20oz SWFA 3-9 HD outfitted with the LRHS's capped windage and low profile, 10 mil per rev elevation turret. That, or stuff an LRHS into a slightly smaller and, by extension, lighter package.

Damned if that ain't French for scenarshooter? GAP GUN missouri brakes icebreaker country. Go figure although don't know as he'd be caught dead with a 25? Call me what you want, but I don't "pose" as someone else... And I do know how to spell, and use capital letters.
Luck....is the residue of design...

Pat no offense intended, I apologize if you were. Knew it was someone up your way, recognized the range from when I was there. Mb

Nice sales pitch for GA Precision 🙄. In 3 years when Bushnell cancels this model, GA Precision will be blowing them out again...

Closed out Bushies have done much, much better for me than full price Leupolds. There was a time in which I wouldn't have wanted to believe it, but it is what it is.
