If snakes get into the walls they will absolutely ruin fiberglass insulation by compressing it plus it will be filthy, mostly due to all of the rodents but the snakes contribute also.

Your problem is mice.
That's why snakes go into houses and barns, other than a convenient shelter from the rain. However, they don't use houses that are occupied unless there's something to eat.
I don't know where you were at, but I'll bet that it was some variety of Rat Snake.

There are steps to getting rid of the snakes that aren't all that expensive unless you call an exterminator to spray poison. Id rather DIY with the mice and snakes if you are married to the house.

Honey badgers make great pets and companions, plus they hate snakes. You could look into getting one of those.
