Had a similar situation with a lab.... I gloved up with a plastic grocery bag and snatched what I figured to be a dingle berry.....out came 18" of grass rope... Dog didnt walk right for 2 days.

my beagle had a nicotine patch half out his ass one time after eating the garbage. i plucked that fugger out with my leatherman and he yelped and scuttled away barking over his shoulder at me.

Laughed myself to tears, remembering My Great grand mother sneaking up on the family mutt with a pair of pliers to get a grip on a pot roast string hanging from his grommit ... Darn dog sensed Her sneak and hauled asse, wasnt His first rodeo. All she had to do was latch on an Doof would do the rest. You couldn't rattle a tool box at gramps place without that mutt hauling tail for the nearest exit. I havent seen a string tied pot roast in years
