Looking for manufacture date of S&W model 58 41 mag. any help greatly appreciated.

If original It should have the diamond grips and the grips fitted to the frame with the serial number of the gun inside the grips.

Yes. original grips had to remove to find the serial number.

The original owner had a custom 8 1/2" barrel fitted, I have the original 4" as well. It is enjoyable to shoot and shoots well.

Does it have Target style stocks? 58s all shipped with Plain Clothes Magnas with the rounded bottoms. I believe the only other model that came with square butt N frame PC Magnas was the later M520 357s

Kid after researching they are the "cokes" style stocks.

Even if they’re not original to the gun you did well if they’re actual Cokes. They could be worth enough to sell and buy you another decent shooter grade S&W.

I’d be interested to see the long barrel. I’m guessing it was a M57 barrel with the front sight shortened to work with the fixed rear? Interesting gun sounds like.
