Got one of bastards digging holes in my backyard. Kimber 22 Hornet at 25 yds was very effective, and classy!

An accurate Hornet is a wonderful thing, my Ruger not so much.

MikeL2: Good work on the Woodchuck there. Was that Kimber in 22 Hornet made in Oregon? I have one that I bought new way back when and it still is unfired. You are correct a "classy" Rifle and a fitting end to that Varmint miscreant. I have kill't Rock Chucks with 22 Hornets by Winchester (Models 70 and 43), Ruger (Model 77 and #1-B) Anschutz, savage and Sako. These days with the pressure on Chucks out west anyways LONGER ranged Rifles are called for. Keep up the good work theres more of them out there. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

It's a Kimber of Oregon model 82 Custom Classic. I picked it up very lightly used around 1990, give or take a year. Came with a 6x Swarovski scope mounted, haven’t found any reason to change it. Shoots 45, 46 gr hollow pts and soft points very well, doesn't like the lighter stuff at all (34, 37 gr?).

I had a custom classic Kimber 22h and sold it, major regret. Was accurate and a perfect sized rifle for that cartridge.

Another of the little bastards showed up today. Closest gun was my Marlin Mountie. Went in to get the rifle, put a stalk on the chuck around a patch of trees, cheeky little critter was just sitting there looking at me. .22LR at 5 ft pretty much ended the hunt.
Last week it was one at my mother's house - that time had my Ruger 77/22 with CCI Quiet ammo, nailed the woodchuck at about 40 yds - stretching the Quiet ammo a little.
So now it's 22 Hornet: 1, 22LR: 2, Woodchucks: 0. And getting to exercise a variety of rifles.
