My buddy is going through a job change and can't give this dog the time he deserves in the field. He also sold his house to his daughter and was planning on building a new house on property he bought, but with the current state of affairs with lumber prices and building in general, things are taking a lot longer than anticipated. He is currently living out of his travel trailer while working full time so caring for the dog has become a bit more challenging. The dog has been raised from a puppy in the house and is house broke. He is very lovable and friendly. This is a pure bred male English Pointer that is a little over 1.5 years old, born on 9/10/19. He is out of outstanding hunting/field trial bloodlines. The dog does hunt and point, and has had birds killed over him. He is collar broke and has been hunted both here in PA on grouse, and in Kansas on pheasant and quail. He was sent out to be worked and conditioned by a trainer to get more bird work before last hunting season and to be conditioned for my buddy's Kansas trip so he would be in hard shape for the several week long hunting trip. My buddy has had bird dogs for a long time and has had some real good ones. He is no sentimentalist with the dogs and if he says the dog will make a hunting dog then it will make a good hunting dog. The dog is free to a good home and comes with papers. I'm hoping to find a good home for him and not put him in the hands of a dog jockey trying to profit on him. Myself or my buddy can meet anywhere within an hour of Pittsburgh PA. A couple more things about him. He has been in the house with a female German Shepard and a male cocker spaniel since he was a puppy and is playful with the other dogs and they get along well. My buddy does not have little kids, but his daughter is college age and he gets along fine with her as well as my buddies girlfriend and his parents. He isn't snippy or shy, he's very loveable, soft, and social. I wouldn't imagine him being bad with kids. We are willing to ship him at your expense. Here is the phone number for the dog hauler that my buddy has used in the past. You can contact her to get pricing. Her number is 586-966-0107

If I still had pointers, I’d take him, but gave it up. That is a good looking dog. Lots of rebel breeding in him.

Has anyone ever moved a dog around the country using a "dog hauler" service? Are you talking about $500 or $5000?

You know how these things work out, he'll likely wind up being the best dog you've ever had. >>---> Might want to bring your own gasoline with you from the sounds of the situation back east.

You can ship dogs through airlines very easily. He has to be crated in a standard plastic crate, and they put the live animals in a conditioned area of the plane, not the cargo hold. Call an airline and get an estimate. You would drop the dog off at the air freight terminal about 2 hours before the flight leaves, and the new owner would pick up the pooch at the destination air freight terminal. This is an everyday service with all the airlines. And it should be less than $500.

I used a dog hauling company out of Eastern NC to pick up an eight week old pup from Alabama and bring back to Raleigh. $175
I’d look at some of the hunting dogs forums on Facebook for reputable dog haulers.

Speaking with the OP there are services that move dogs and they are far better for the animal and that is what I would rather do. I sent the owner a text telling him I will take the fine dog and give it a good home as long as we can work out the details. A little more money to have the dog well taken care of in transit is well worth it.

I would never give a dog away for free, Chance of a bad home or bait dog are high, Be sure to interview the new owners so the dog is placed in a hunting home and they understand living with a hunting pointer.
