I bought a used barrel for my Benelli shotgun. The mid-bead is broken off, just about flush with the rib. Benelli sent me a new bead, but I'm not really sure how I should go about getting the old one out.

I'm guessing a little heat will be needed to break the Loctite loose, but what kind of tool can I use to grab a hold of it?

An easy-out will do the trick!

But in reality you don't need that bead or the front bead. You should be looking at the target not the bead!

A left hand drill bite will get it out as well.

Keep preaching at Dan, I am sure you can teach him a lot about smoking things with a shotgun...

Or not...

wink

He may have shot a lot more than you can imagine...

Or not..

I got the old bead out, but the new one from Benelli doesn't seem to fit. I'm wondering if the one that was in there was an after-market bead? Different threads? I'm not really sure.

I was doing the repair mostly for cosmetic reasons. Bead or no bead, there is a loose nut behind the stock that is responsible for all of my misses. grin

The only way I know if I have a bead on my shotguns is if the cleaning rag hangs on it when I am wiping it off.
You point a shotgun, you don't aim it at moving targets.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

That - and they're a PITA... The makers use 'em because they're cheap and quick to install..
