Be aware there is a scam 99 listed on gunbroker. Item 901097371.It is a takedown in 30-30. The seller is not rated and all of his other guns he has listed are taken with different backgrounds. These guys lift photos from other sites and post them for sale at low prices just to get your credit card info. This has become a real problem on gunbroker. All these scam artists will only take paypal or other credit cards. I know of 5 scam listings that were on GB last week alone. Br careful when you buy.

Yep, I even know the web site those pictures are lifted from.
Gunbroker is supposed to be verifying sellers. I'll notify them of this one.

There was a L-61 Sako 300 H&H for sale on GunBroker about a week ago. It was a first time seller. If it had been a good seller, I’d have bought it, but too much money to risk. I wanted it bad, but was leery.

Since he is in Westley Chapel down by Tampa I sent him a message asking if I won the auction that I could pick it up in person and pay cash and save him the hassle of shipping it. It will be interesting to see if he answers

I'd be willing to bet he's at least 1000 miles from Tampa. Probably not even on this continent.

I kinda figure he isn’t where he says he is. I just wanted to see if he would answer and what excuse he would use as to why that wouldn’t be possible

It's all done on the honor system and I've had good luck in all my years buying off GB. But having said that, it seems like it's only a matter of time before something in the "bad experience" department busts loose. Thanks for the warning.

I thought they used to require a credit card to verify users? Not that there aren't a lot of hacked credit cards out there..

That's a good policy for new buyers to be aware of and use.

gunbroker had all the information necessary to know it was a scam. Apparently they are becoming the new armslist.. I take that back, armslist will remove scams once they are reported.

Chances are the buyer knows it is a scam and has no intention of following through.However,the guy had several other sales listed and he may have hooked someone.I for one will not buy or sell on gunbroker. I check it only to check prices.There is no reason for them not to block a known scam ad. It just hurts them in the long run.I have friend who has been with gunbroker since they started. Last week he had 3 guns lifted from his gunbroker ad and relisted on gunbroker! He complained but they never did anything.
