Steelworker Union That Endorsed Biden Now Begging Him Not To End Trump’s Tariff On Foreign Steel

Donald Trump was one of the best American presidents in years for workers and labor. Protecting the interests of American workers and bringing jobs back to America was at the very center of his campaign and presidency.

In spire of this, the nation’s largest steelworker union decided to endorse Biden in 2020 for some reason.

Now the very same union is begging Biden to keep Trump’s tariff on foreign steel in place.

U.S. steel industry groups and the United Steelworkers union on Wednesday urged President Joe Biden to keep in place the steel tariffs imposed three years ago, saying that lifting them now would undermine the industry’s viability.

In a letter to Biden just days after his chief trade negotiator struck a temporary tariff truce with the European Union, the groups argued that the “Section 232” national security tariffs imposed by former president Donald Trump have been a success, leading to $15.7 billion in new capacity investments.

“Eliminating the steel tariffs now would undermine the viability of our industry,” wrote the heads of the American Iron and Steel Institute, the Steel Manufacturers Association, the United Steelworkers and other groups.

“Global steel overcapacity has only increased during the pandemic, and past economic crises have led to devastating import surges as other nations dumped their excess steel into the U.S. market.”

Now they’re begging Biden to keep Trump’s policies in place. Do you think Biden will help them?

The union deserves to be crushed.....not the steel industry workers who most likely voted for Trump.

I have zero sympathy for the union. Individuals that didn't toe the union line and voted Trump - okay but the union put itself in this position. No tears shed.

The UAW/Big 3 did the same thing in automotive.

What you see here is why I despise all cooperate structures, whether they be unions, religion, business, or government. They may be created to serve the people, but once they grow large enough to be a cooperate structure, they forget the rank and file and start making policies that perpetuate they own existence. The NRA comes to mind.

Union members must be the stupidest, most gullible morons on the planet. They are just like Charlie Brown with Lucy holding the football. Election cycle after election cycle, the union forcibly takes money from the members, and gives that money to the dhimmicrats. Those commies then destroy the business that the union members depend on. The union officials are never impacted, they live like kings. The rank and file gets bent over and butt reamed time, after time, after time..............and they never wise up.

Remember, biden was committed to China, long ago by his ambassador, hunter.

Steel prices and supply have sucked the last year! I have had to change several projects, because the correct material was not available. Not to mention prices seem to be up 50%, from last year! Just like housing materials, add a material adjustment into all projects. My experience!

Union leaders are simply one more despicable sub-species of politician.
