i live in Northern Minnesota , yes the deer population is a huge problem and in Minnesota we have way to many liberals in the metro areas , these liberals want wolves protected. one thing about whitetail deer they are smart and have a will to survive so some of these whitetails do live, the first deer killed every year is fawns in spring, then bigger big bucks in December after the rutt by wolves . if the wolf population was cut to half or less here in Minnesota we would have some real giant wild bucks up here too. so we don`t have a golden deer season every year but its a family tradition for my family . family tradition deer season is always golden, with many many old stories which are told over and over at funerals, weddings and family get togethers ,those old buck stories the horns get bigger, bucks get heavier and much bigger, bucks seem to get farther away too and with one shot thru the heart too. >> so wants really golden is its like a holiday in many Minnesota deer camps, stories told, rifles brag about, jokes told, food , cold beer and youths hunters learning and listening and all excited about opening mourning of Minnesota deer rifle season. good luck to all this fall,Pete53

Oh boy - now we’ll see video’s of wolves killing domestic dogs, I get calls from city “folk” who move out to the country and then want me to come out and get rid of what ever just ate their lap dog or cats, killed the turkeys ...
The best call was when one of them had bobcat in heat scared the crap out of them and they leave the place immediately.

I will add I think it ended when they stopped posting hunting photos in the newspaper.

I hunt a farm where the farmer is convinced he is overrun with deer. He doesn't want guys to shoot coyotes. If I get the chance I will shoot one, lay it along the road and run over it. No one does autopsies on roadkill.

Of course wolves reduce auto/deer collisions. After the wolves put a hurtin on the deer population how could there not be less deer on the roads.

Way better deer hunting here now than 50 years ago. Not so in northern NH and Maine, where the best hunting was more than 30 years ago.

I believe it's the other way around. I think the insurance companies have been behind this for years. They're the ones pushing the state agencies.
My heart's in the mountains, my heart is not here. My heart's in the mountains, chasing the deer.

In my home state of Michigan the insurance lobbyists have pressured the state for years to reduce deer. The DNR won’t admit it but it’s obvious that the insurance groups are behind a lot of it. You can’t drive a mile down a highway without seeing a dead deer on the side of the road. That’s big dollars to the insurance companies, they view deer as public enemy number one.
