Sounds like my first senior citizen discount at age 54. I was at a burger joint and was paying for my order and the young girl at the register asked if I was a senior citizen. I said not yet and then she said "You look like it, so I am giving you the discount." Ouch.

The thing is, we are born on a certain day, and time keeps marching on.

About five years ago I was in the school gym waiting to pick up my daughter (6 yrs. old at the time). Once she came out, she asked if I had any other grandchildren. It stung a bit - mainly b/c she was a MILF. I was 46 at the time, but I did have a beard, which is gray.

When I decided to go back to school to earn a master's degree, one day in Chemistry class, some chick referred to me as "Pops" when she asked a question. I answered her question by calling her "Pimple-Popper." Got a good laugh out of that one and she always smiled at me when I saw her on campus.

My younger son is 47 and has the opposite problem. Until recently he’d get carded for his ID when we’d go out for a drink. He looks like he’s in his early 20’s. His son is 10 and is tall for his age, so waiters must figure if he has a child that big, he must be at least 21. My other son is 50 and has graying hair, so he looks at least 40.

It takes a while for the mirror to respond. Don't worry it is normal.

I've always had a baby face and was carded regularly until I was nearly 40. Once when I was in my mid-30s I went into a bar that had a bartender who was in his mid 20s. He asked for my ID and I told him I'd go double or nothing that I was not only over 21, but that I was older than he was. The free drink tasted good.

The best part is that I went back to the same bar a couple of months later and he didn't remember me, so I did it again. wink

As I was reading the OP, I kept thinking "Nope, haven't done THAT, haven' done THAT, haven't done THAT...then I came to the part about covering legs with a blankey. Drat! I am getting old.

It definitely ain't for sissies.

The arthritis is killing me today. Back hurts too ... and the ankle.

I know when bad weather is coming two days before the weatherman and I am much more accurate.

Have to get up in the middle of the night to take a damn piss ... and that takes 15 minutes.

Getting old is definitely not for sissies.

Restaurant in Cody WY with my wife and son and his wife. I'm 51 years old, got offered a senior citizen's menu for the first time in my life. Family thought it was hilarious, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

OTOH, in the Yuma AZ Lowes, at age well over 70 I got carded so I could buy a can of spray paint. Cashier lady was about my same age, we both got a chuckle out of the inanity of it.

When I was 80 I was power walking 2 1/2 miles and on no prescribed meds. Things sure can change drastically in a year and a half! Quick too!

BE STRONG IN THE LORD, AND IN HIS MIGHTY POWER. ~ Ephesians 6:10

Socialism is a philosophy of failure,
the creed of ignorance,
and the gospel of envy,
its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

I went into the local drug store and bought a bottle of bourbon. (they had Angel's Envy on sale!). The cashier asked for my ID (I can only guess that they must ask on every sale). For a laugh I offered her my Medicare card, which you have to be at least 65 to get. She said "Picture ID only, please.".
