Been trying to find one of these with the 5 1/4" barrel for months without any luck but have found several available with the 4 1/2" barrel. For those that have the latter, how is the recoil on that thing?

Nobody? For those that own the 10mm with the shorter 4 to 41/2" barrels, how's the recoil on those rigs?

I have never shot one with the shorter barrel but the 5.25" has a very comfortable recoil. I seriously doubt you'd find much difference between it and the 4.5"
Like a Combat Commander and a full size 1911, both firing the same +P 45 ACP ammo , I am betting you could feel little difference.

That’d be my guess. Not a huge difference in the recoil between a Glock 20 and 29 in 10mm

I’ve too been looking at the Suppresser Ready Springfield 10mm with the longer barrel. LGS had me a few months back, and I really liked the feel of it.

The only 10mm that I really notice a recoil change on is the G40. Recoil feels like a target 40sw. All the other ones just feel like 10's. I've got more than my share of mags through a G29, commander 10mm, 5" 1911 10mm, 2011 10mm, G20's... The G29 with a barrel less than 4" has a little snap to it, but not even in the realm of punishing or painful. I will say, the shorter barreled 10's quickly teach you the value a good, strong grip. I generally don't prefer 10mm barrels less than 5" because of velocity loss, recoil isn't a factor.

Can't speak on the Springfield but have a G20 and you can notice the difference between a target load and hotter defensive loads but I don't find 10mm recoil to be bad at all.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I've been considering a 29 with a 4.5" KKM barrel and this is moving that idea along.

I have 3 10MMs, and shoot a lot. Sharpshooter97 summed up my experience.

My wife and I each have one of the 4.5 inch XD 10m’s. I find them easy to manage and she does OK with hers. We practice with standard 180 grain bullets but also use Underwood or Buffalo Bore hardcast. The latter is what we carried in AK as backups. Of course felt recoil is an individual thing, but I personally find these guns more comfortable than a k frame 357 and way easier to hit with than a 44 mag. To me, it’s also a comfort having 15 in the magazine. I hope I never have to unleash hell fire with it, but I think I could.

I've had a Glock 20 for years. I always shot 180 grain XTP's at a hot enough level that I kept track and tossed my brass after two uses. I never found the recoil of the 10 mm to be much of a problem until I shot the GSSF Glock Challenge with it back in February. I don't remember the round count, it was around a hundred, more than I'd ever shot it at one time before. By about 2/3 of the way through the match it was getting old.
