Building 7mm Mag w Bartlein 2B. Stock preferences based on the info beliw? Not looking for anything extreme in weight - not too light not too heavy. Considering Game Scout in Fiberglass or Hunters Edge or Rem Hunter which are both classified as ultralight. Will use in mountains and from a blind. Stnd LOP fine, 5’11”, 180lbs with a long neck. Thanks Hawg

I like the Game Warden ( I think is what is called) it is the one without the Monte Carlo cheek piece.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Hard to go wrong with a Classic. I’ve got a 2b in one and it’s a good combo. A little more meat in the fore end than hunters edge

I have several McMillan Hunter stocks on gig game rifles. I really like them. Recently, I bought an AG Composites stock, specifically an Alpine Hunter. It’s a great stock in my view, and a bit cheaper than a McMillan. Wait time was 10 weeks.

Classic has small grip area. I can't get my pinky on the grip. With winter gloves, its even worse.
And the drop is to much..

Hunter has better cheek weld and larger grip.

Holston, I have that same camo pattern on my new Remington Hunter stock, love it. Put it on a Bergara Wilderness Ridge Rifle in .300 WM.

If you can find someone in your area with each, I'd try to handle a carbon game scout and a classic at a minimum.

With the classic, I find myself using the lowest rings I can, but still works great for me. Been using Seekins on Burris XTR 2 pc bases.

That being said, I seem to prefer a tad higher cheekweld than most. Never could get along with extra lows on Kimbers or factory 700s.

I’ve always been a fan of GAP camo.

I’m doing a rem hunter with a 3B, the thinner forend of the McMillan hunter would be better with your lighter barrel though.

I have a Hunters Edge on my LW 375 H&H. It has a Benchmark #5 contour which the forearm accommodates readily. I believe a #6 would work as well. That 375 is 8.25# with scope.

I would stay away from McMillan & get an AG composite. I will never buy a new McM again.

I like raised cheekpieces, so I like the Mountain Rifle style on builds with light barrels, the McM Hunter on builds with magnum contour barrels, and the regular, wide forearm, Hunter on varmint contour barrels.

I didn't like the sharp edges on the Hunters edge at the bottom of the Remington Hunters Edge stock. Made for uncomfortable carrying with one hand, Winchester Hunters Edge is more rounded. I have Classics on my Remingtons.
