I'm looking at a nice Model 54. The left side effects f the receiver is tapped for what would look to be a Lyman prep sight. No sights on the gun other than the flip up blade. Are the two receiver hole screws original or aftermarket installed? Thanks!

Yes, the frame was factory d&t for a receiver sight.

Plus the two holes on top of the receiver ring. No hole should be on top of the receiver bridge though. The receiver ring holes were there to accommodate a target scope block, the second block of that kind of scope mounting system was accommodated by the barrel dovetail.

The bolt would still have to altered to accommodate the scope. Winchester corrected this on the pre64 model 70’s. Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Not necessarily, the scope blocks and old micrometer mounts would set the scope tube & straight ocular high enough to clear the original bolt handle profile and safety lever.

I have two 54's with scopes, a Unertl on one and Lyman Targetspot on the other. Unaltered bolt handles clear handily on both.
