Gentlemen Thank you for the help regarding the Barnes 30/130ttsx for spring bear. Killed another calf and fawn eating machine with it. Thirty yard hard uphill shot, bullet entered the left side of head, exited about halfway down the back. Back of skull is crunchy. No blood trail though...... until we moved the bear. My hunting partner was a skeptic until we skinned and quartered. Exit hole in the hide is about an inch by inch and half. Got until the middle of June for my Wyoming tag, maybe I can sneak around the grizzlies and find another black bear. I’ll use the 130ttsx again with no trepidation.

I use them in a 300 Savage 99. I’ve been impressed too.

Would you mind sharing what powder and velocity you're getting?

Here in the South, we use that 130g with Win 748, bullet seated .050 off the lands, fed 210 primer, close to a max load for the rifle. I doubt if you will ever recover a bullet, we have not. 3150 MV on 24" bbl

My load is Winchester case, Winchester primer, 49 grains of TAC , 130 gr TTSX with an overall length of 2.795. Velocity is 3017 from an 18” Kimber Montana scout rifle. Accuracy is excellent, recoil with a five ounce suppressor is tolerable. Six months ago I had a four level anterior cervical fusion on Monday then Wednesday had a posterior fusion from C2 through T2. That is why I needed a lighter recoiling load than my normal 200 grain partition or Speer at 2450.

46.5gr Benchmark in a Lapua case lit by a Fed 210M primer will get 3,150 ft/sec and sub .5moa at 400yds in my rifle. Oddly enough, the 130gr TTSX is more accurate then any other bullet from Berger, Sierra, Hornady or Hammer in my rifle.
Several groups measured under 1.5" at 400yds. Whitetails don't like this combo.

Love the 130gr TTSX. I'm loading 50.2gr TAC in a Lapua case using Fed 210M primers. This load gives excellent results out of a Winchester Classic Model 70 with 22' barrel. MV is 3153 fps.
