Unfortunately, most of those Great American Hero’s of the Greatest Generation are gone now.
My Grandfather was one of those that hit the Beach at Omaha.

My uncle (Dad’s older brother) drove one of the landing crafts at Normandy. His first choice, when he joined the Navy, was to be a tail gunner on a torpedo bomber. His Mom & Dad convinced him to change his mind.
