I want to load some 200g TTSX Barnes at about 2550-2600fps, I only have 50 I also have 100 200g Accubonds, I can order more. trying to set up some medium recoil rounds for my son for elk vs my MAX loads
my question is which powder to use, this is what I have on hand: 1lb V550, I would like use this stuff up 1lb Ramshot Big Game, I would like to use this stuff up 8lb varget, saving this to trade for a 4wheeler, seriously- I am trying to save it, but if you guys think it is the best I will use it 8lb Reloder 17, I use this for my MAX velocity loads (it runs 225g accubonds at 2800fps, 22in barrel), but people say it is not a great everyday powder for this caliber.
I have QuickLoad, so I can calc my load data once you all give me your thought on which powder.
thanks for your help guys

Of those listed, I'd use Varget.

varget ,4895,re15 and tac are good whelen powders, if you wanna save the varget for later the ramshot big game is the fastest and closest burn rate. i use tac in some whelen loads its a stout load w a 225barnes but the velocity is there. ramshot may have data, email them, theres lots of stuff that isnt published in the tables.

sorry no luck with the powders you listed, when I had my 35 whelen the only powder needed was RL 15, it pushed the 200 T-TSX at 2600 into .75" groups.

I shot 58gr of H322 behind the 200X, 200TTSX out of a 35 Whelan Ackley. The load came from Barnes very first manual for the standard 35 Whelan. If you can find some H322 you will be in the berries! I killed several head of Plains Game with the original 200x and the second one that had a Secant ogive. It acted just like the old 250X I originally used! You may not get to 58grs, but its a good goal. Good luck to you Pard.

After trying most of the above powders Ive settled on IMR-8208 XBR. I burn 59.0grs to get 2891fps from my 22" barrel 700 classic with 200gr Barnes TTSX. Excellent accuracy. If this load is too fast simply back off the powder charge. Pressure signs are completely normal in my rifle, as I would expect from a load that conforms with published data

What Max said - varget ,4895,re15 and tac are good whelen powders
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
