Maybe so but I read a calculation a while back of how much money is brought into a University by having a National title winning or very high ranked college football team and it was up in the stratosphere, money-wise. Put another way, what’s paid to a consistent winning coach ain’t a drop in the barrel for what is returned to a University. This ain’t about love! Grins

Considering Alabama football is a corporation in itself and he is making the decisions, I see nothing wrong with it. Others had to agree also before the contract was approved.

Overpaid nobody is worth that much money to Coach Football. The amount of money Alabama football brings in has drastically increased under Saban. I'd say he is worth every penny

The schools in the Southeast, be they ACC or SEC are semi-pro football factories, nothing more. To even call this stuff "College football" is a joke.

The market has spoken. The trouble is not that he is being paid that much, the problem is that he is worth it. In many ways it's unfortunate that college sports has become such big business. College sports creates loyalties to our favorite universities which in turn blinds people to the damage being done to our country in the name of higher education.
The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.

As it Tennessee fan and alum it pains me to say it, but Saban is likely the best to ever coach the game. If Alabama did not pay him that much, someone else would do so gladly. If Penn State, Michigan or USC thought they could get him, don't tell me they would not shell out the cash.

We are a nation (supposedly) of free capitalists. Anybody is worth what they can get somebody to pay them. We should not be hypocritical about it. Either we believe in the free market system or we don't.
