Any issues with hot reloads in the 23? I loaded for a 20 & 29 and always replaced the barrels, but could never get them to be 100% reliable. I moved away from the 10mm, but would like to stick with the 40 cal diameter. Something in the mid size platform.

As long as it is Gen3 and up you're go to go. If you have one the older "guppy makers" you'd be wise to go easy.

Just curious ... why did you move away from the 10mm and the G20? You couldn't get it to function reliably with the aftermarket barrel?

I've run a Barstow on my G20 for years with nary an issue. It's the only Glock I own or will likely ever own. I'm a SIG guy but my love of 10mm made me stray once upon a time.

I moved away from the G20 because of the size, so I replaced it with the G29. I would use factory ammo when carrying because of the realizability issues. I sold the 29 because I didn’t like shooting it much. A few years later I bought the XDm 10mm which I really like. When it was time to load up the pack and go hunting I always choose a smaller and lighter 9mm in stead of the 10mm. I’ve now decided to trip the 10mm all together and go with a smaller lighter package in 40. Probably the G23 or M&P compact.

G23 is a good choice! No issues reloading a stock G 20. Never tried to load a G23 but shouldn't be a problem. Im not sure what you consider "hot" for 40 is. It already is a high pressure cartridge as is.

What is "high pressure" about it?

I’m referring to max loads in the loading books.

"Hoop stresses" in pressure vessels can explain it better than I. Read up on it. Bigger diameter of 40 takes out some safety margin.

So you assume the designers of the barrel didn't have to study the same coursework when they got their degrees? Everything you just said is total bullshit. Leave It alone and move on.
