I was not sure if I should post this here or the optics forum.

I picked up a Kimber Montana 84m .223 on a trip to Colorado. I just received a SWFA SS 6x42 that I purchased from a forum member.

What mount/rail/rings have you used that places the scope in correct location? Pictures please

There are several options. I went the simple route and used Leupold Dual Dovetails. Medium height rings as I recall.

I've got a few with Leupold DD's and one with Talley LW's.

DD's aren't that much heavier but the one with Talley's has a few Titanium accoutrements and is around 1/2# lighter so I've left them.

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

This is likely the way I would go.

One with Talley rail and Seekins low rings and SS 6x42.

Second with Warne 2-piece bases and Warne Mt Tech low rings...this one has a S&B 6x42 on it though.

The Talley rail gives you a little more mounting latitude, the Warne 2-piece a little lower height. I like them both. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

A rail on a rifle with a blind mag can make things pretty tight. Thinking about using a chopped one on my Fieldcraft to mount a 25oz scope. Right now it has a 17oz in low Talleys.

A Montana 84M begs for Talley LW’s.

For you guys not using rail, do you have any issues with the eye relief of the scope?

LW's are "great". I've "only" Puked (8) sets, though obviously don't have any in service anymore. Hint.(grin)

I've never had a DD failure,be it Montucky or anywhere else. Certainly gotsta' be at least 50 sets flogged on by now. Hint.

This.

The unbreakability of the DDs are a good trade off against Talleys that break on light rifles due to recoil.

Of course, a 223 doesn’t recoil much, but why compromise?

I've shot hundreds of rounds using Kimbers, Talley LW's in 300WM's and 300WSM's. Guess I am lucky.

There are a few Talley failures. There are no DD failures that I know of.
