China just announced a $20,000 shipping charge per container as told to us in an email by a National Tire Distributor.
Tie a knot and hang on!

Who make tires in the USA? Goodyear and Cooper are American owned, as far as made in America, quite a few… though the companies themselves are foreign owned.

I wonder why they didn't do that a year or two ago? humm?
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Michelin has several plants in and around Anderson, SC. Not an american owned company, but at least they employ Americans. What tires are made in China so I can be sure not to buy them. I believe Firestone still has plants in the US. Crappy tires, but likely better than those made in China.
Regards,
Kris

Michelin’s suck. I just went through a set of primacy’s in 22,000 miles on the front of my service truck.
Used to run coopers til I had the tread peel off on three separate tires.

The fact that China now believes it isn’t dependent on the US consumer shows how fast this country is becoming irrelevant.
One more term for Trump would’ve possibly ended China’s rise.

I’m thinking that China has gotten so comfortable with the American economy in it’s back pocket that it doesn’t worry to much any more about who’s in charge. On my guess, The bastards are raking In (conservatively) 85% of our gnp every phugin year. Christmas sales every year alone are flushing our future down the communist toilet...

Remember when the goal was to “open up markets” so American business could sell goods to 1 billion Chinese folks??
Turned out, “American business” shut down their manufacturing, moved it over to China, and now we’re dependent on THEM to get manufactured goods.
They know what they’re doing. They’re like the evil drug dealers you hear about, who give folks their first few “fixes” for cheap or free. Once they’re “hooked”, then.....

That’s because the damned elected politicians that made the trade laws sold us (working class america) out to put the money in their own pockets instead of Looking out for our own best interest. Pretty obvious really....

We need to bring back the manufacturing of meds and medical supplies here. Also computer chips. My brother was good friends with Steve Appleton the old CEO of Micron before Steve died in a plane crash.
My brother was telling me Steve used to always curse the Korean and Chinese chip manufacturers. He said we gave them way too much tech and their governments subsidized their manufacturing to drive US ones out of business.
Steve used to say America will soon regret not being able to make their own chips. We are seeing it now. I think the Chinese are starting their play to destroy US auto manufacturers and the chip shortage is at least partially deliberate.
