The guy I talked to that was part of Blackhawk down doesn't think the AR or in his case M4 was devastating enough. He said the skinnies could take 3-4 solid hits and still keep fighting for a few minutes.

In 1994 there were 500,000 AR15s in private hands. Yet the "ban" only passed after being watered down into meaninglessness. 10-year expiration and didn't ban owning or manufacturing a single AR15. New ones couldn't have bayonet studs. Bwa-ha-ha!
Today there are 20,000,000 AR15s in private hands.
So don't vote for a new ban unless you like early retirement.

The Somalis were skinny as a toothpick and wore baggy sheets. Made it really hard to shoot center of sheet and hit anything. Navy had M16A1's and Marines A3's. Think the M4's were issued starting in '94? Not sure about the Delta Force guys. I left in May '93 and they came later. I was in Hawaii during Blackhawk Down. Heard about it over the radio driving on the highway North of Kona. Felt odd not being there.

Unless you get CNS hits like the spine and head, or joint/ major bone hits with Fmj 5.56 and 7.62. It does take 3 4 5 8 9 rounds sometimes to put a Haji down for good. And if they are hyped up on amphetamines ( common with fedayeen types) they seem super human sometimes on the hits they take and stay on their feet till they crumble. Fmj deposits very little energy thru soft tissue. Clean entry and exit wounds.
