Read recently that Walgreens? has closed a couple dozen stores in SF. Soon it will be a “product desert” that Congress will feel necessary to address.

Miss the old days, 1980s, as floor walker fuggin shoplifters up who fought when arrested. Amen, sir. My brother worked at a shoe store on Market Street in the 1970s. The manager of the store was a member of our synagogue, a combat veteran from Israel's war of Independence and subsequent wars, who had zero tolerance for thieves. My brother caught a black lady stealing shoes and the manager told him to escort her to the basement so he could talk to her. My brother did that, and the manager was very nice, asked the lady to take a seat (the chair had been strategically placed in front of a bunch of empty boxes in front of a brick wall) and then asked her if she had stolen anything. She yelled at him and he calmly pulled out a .357, put it next to her ear, pulled the trigger and then told her (when her hearing returned) that the next time, the bullet would go through her forehead. Never had a problem with shoplifters again....

Last year, going slightly against orders, I went through a homeless encampment in an attempt to get them to move voluntarily. My Captain, now retired, had removed me from my assignment as Homeless Abatement Officer, stating that the position as Homeless abatement Officer had been cancelled due to "defunding" the Police, at least at our Station. After all, advocates say that homelessness is a social issue and cops shouldn't be used where a legion a social workers who do not exist yet should be. Until said legion of social workers have been raised, the "Non Profits" can handle this. But property owners and small businessmen begged me for help, so against orders I strolled through the encampment. I found under several tarps, a large capacity portable diesel generator from a local industrial supply company. I called them and and they sent a recovery driver. The driver told me that the unit was worth $20,000 and had not yet been reported stolen. He laughed bitterly, stating that he would go to jail for ten years for possessing this property, but that nothing was going to happen to the homeless in this town. The company was grateful. The Captain was unimpressed and ordered me to not respond to homeless complaints.

Of course the official story as to why Walgreens is closing is that they are greedy corporate bastidges who are selling their properties at enormous profits to marijuana dispensaries, thus depriving ethnic neighborhoods of much needed goods.

I'm sure they ARE happy, after all they voted the Dems into office. The voters always get exactly what they deserve.

My belief is that jurors, who do not pay taxes, or own businesses are driving this crime surge. They have no vested interest, in their minds. What ever happened to young children being groomed to flourish, economically, and legally?

So where will this all end?
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.
Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

From the article: s Medvin points out, San Francisco’s District Attorney does not prosecute this sort of theft. This is partly due to a 2014 ballot referendum in San Francisco “that downgraded the theft of property less than $950 in value from a felony charge to a misdemeanor,” according to Brad Polumbo, writing in Foundation for Economics Education. Adding, “In the years since, enforcement of shoplifting charges has waned significantly.” I doubt you could justify it but it would be nice to price everything at $990 and 'discount taken at checkout'.
