Hello to all. I got a vx 1 about 6 months ago and recently discovered it has dirt or something on the inside of the scope. I can see something on the lens on 3x, barely see it on 4x and can't see it at all on 5-9x. I hate to take it off because it shoots so well but it is sort of a distraction. Will leupold fix this particular scope?

Joe -
I see this is your first post. Welcome to the campfire. In the optics forum you will normally get tons of comments and rigorous opinions. Don't let the fact you only received one reply so far give you the wrong impression about the amount of info available here. You just happen to ask a question everyone knows will get answered satisfactorily. Leupold is known for good scopes but they are FAMOUS for their service. Send them your scope and expect it to be fixed or replaced with a new one. Tens years from now- expect the same thing with that scope - that kind of service.

Thank you for your replies and welcome. Have you ever heard of such a thing on the inside lens? I kept wiping the lens until I realized it was on the inside.

schitt can get inside the scope when it's being made, or something can get shaken loose when shooting ... it happens ... but that's the nice thing about owning a quality scope from a quality company like Leupold ... they'll take care of you ...

I have had some of the internal coating on te tube come loose on a Weaver (old style) that behaved exactly as you describe your situation. It was fixed in a generakl overhaul of the scope and never returned.
