Smooth bore barrels are meant to shoot “rifled slugs” whereas the rifled barrels are typically meant to shoot sabot type rounds. And this smooth bore barrel does shoot ammo labeled as “rifled slugs” very well. At least that is my understanding. One of the shotgun deer hunters could elaborate I’m sure! I only hunted with it one time befor IN allowed rifles on private property.

I sure wish I had a need for it but I already have a Winchester 1300 with the rifled slug barrel. We had some at the P.D. I worked at years ago and they were good barrels. They could shoot the slugs and #4 buckshot with great results. 20 or less yards with the buck and at 50 yards with the slugs they were center of mass shooters.
