The sales clerk at a local gun store told me yesterday that availability on 9mm was up, and prices have been coming down. He told me this in the context of trying to sell me a 9mm carbine, so take that for what it's worth.

At my local "big" gun store they have a ton of 9mm ball in 115, 124, and 147 grain. 250 rounds max per visit. $34.99 a box. Same stuff I paid $9.99 for on sale in 2019. 40 cal 180 grain ball is $44.99 and is a one box limit. I haven't seen a price reduction yet.

Yes there is a decline in prices even at my dealer who sells stuff at a very good fair reasonable price.

The latest decline in price may suggest two things. First, demand from retail is exhausted, and second, manufacturers might have increased supply. The good news is ammo is becoming cheaper, but returning to pre-pandemic levels may never happen. There's just too much demand as the country spirals into chaos under liberal control - people want protection - and the best protection and most common is a 9mm handgun. I always thought Trojan provided the best protection but Sheik felt better.

Prices will never be what they were pre Covid because of the Biden Economic Depression Program. I think a lot of dealers and suppliers will be stuck with a bunch of ammo because it is going to hit them all at once because of all the orders they placed and the market will be soft.

For the first time in months a regional chain farm supply store had some ammo day before yesterday but all the 9mm sold out quick. Clerk said stock deliveries seem to have started picking up a little, especially on high demand calibers. They still had a little 5.56 and 7.62/39 in stock at the time. Said they also got just a little ammo in traditional hunting caliber loads in but most of it had already been sold, too. Not much of a selection on brands, bullet weights/types, etc., in any of it so far, either.

Pretty easy to advertise lower prices when they have nothing in stock

I'd have to find some first. here too. Unless you want to hunt elephants or starlings. Neither are locally abundant, however. But ammo for those are on the shelf.

Rural King had ... 50rd federal 9mm for $16. 32¢ per round is excellent, nowadays.

LGS had h4350 & h1000 for $39 / # last week.
Had multiple cases on hand. 3# limit of each type.
They were getting handgun ammo in. Guy at counter said they were finally getting stuff back ordered from months ago.
Shelves still slim on rifle ammo.
