Just used one of Lightfoot’s no drill mounts to put a Leupold 3x scope on my 99 RS .300 Savage. The mounting was easy and the craftsmanship of the mount is outstanding. Here is a quick cell pic that doesn’t quite do it justice. I will post some daylight pics when I have some daylight time off

I have two, was shooting the 250 this afternoon. These safe queens are getting used again, the 303 will be going to Maine in September on a bear hunt.

I would also suggest the "Wyoming Sight Drifter" it makes taking out the slot blank and puting in the mount a heck of a lot easier and doesnt mar up the gun

Plus one on everything everyone said on the mount and thanks for the tip on the sight drifter.

I still think that somehow these mounts need to get chronicled in the history of the Savage 99. Mike's mount is just the sort of thing that we run across today and scratch our heads bald tryig to figure out where the heck it came from. I don't know if David is setting a place aside in his new book for the lightfoot mount, but if not it would be perfect for archiving it in the history of the 99. As the History Guy on YouTube puts it," it is history worth remembering." Just in this case it will be future history worth remembering.

The Lightfoot mount is included in my book. I shot two deer with a 99K with an engraved Lightfoot mount. One appears at the beginning of chapter two with the whitetail I shot on White Ghost Ranch while photographing Brent Geistweidt's engraved 99's. I included a closeup of the mount. Hopefully the publisher will also use the pic of me with the mule deer and the 99K as the photo of the author on the book's dust jacket.

I sincerely appreciate the interest in keeping the mount identifiable as time marches forward. I have to confess that I have given this minimal thought and effort.
In the beginning I thought of simply stamping a SN on the underside of the front strap but never implemented that. After the popularity built up I was too busy building to revisit a marking scheme.
I do everything I can to keep the cost down so going to laser marking or such would add cost that is no real benefit to the user.
I am very happy to at least have it in print and let the future lore build from that and all of myriad posts here, other forums and FB.
Always open to suggestions though.
Thanks!

I wonder how expensive and complicated it would be to have someone set up a CNC machine to turn a piece of steel into the mount? Maybe talk to Ronnie Wells that does all the Bisley grip frames about it. I am guessing it would probably be a significant investment and not sure you would be able to sell enough to make a profit. Too many people don’t care and just have them D&T now a days if they even buy the ones that aren’t already drilled

I've had some contact on doing a CNC takeoff. Yup, up front cost and impact on overall selling price without a high volume guarantee kinda shuts it down.

Goog evening looks good, I'm also looking for a lightfoot mount for my savage 1899 22 high-power. Could you point me in the right direction of how to get one?
