Was about to buy the 2-7x Diamondback from Vortex, but noticed in the specs that it has parallax set at 50yards, whereas the the 3-9x Diamondback has it set at the more typical 100 yards.

Is a 50-yard parallax a big negative for using this scope for deer, out to no more than 200 yards?

Thanks, in advance, for any input.

Scott

My Diamondback is a 4-12x40 but I have no clue at what range the parallax is set. All I know is that it's a very good scope for the money in low light.

2-7x is 35mm.

3-9x is 40mm.

Never mind...the website I was looking at had the 2-7x miscategorized. It is actually a rimfire scope, not centerfire.

Thanks.

A 50 yd setting would typically be a rimfire setting.
Not to say however that it couldnt be used successfully.
Paralex is caused by the shooter for the most part anyway.
Place your cheek on the stock the same way every time and the issue goes away.
Does a 100 yd setting mean you cant use the scope at 400?

Parallax shouldn't be a concern on any scope for deer hunting out to 200 yards.

With a 35mm objective and a 50 yard parallax setting, the maximum error would be a hair over 5/8" at 100 yards, 1 3/8" at 150 yards, and 2 1/16" at 200 yards, and you'd have to be looking along the outer edge of the ocular lens to get that much error.

If you stay centered in the scope, there is no issue. Good luck.
