I am thinking of getting one of these, is there one that is better than the rest, will the mag's interchange? I see Kimber, Sig, Colt, Walther, American, Chiappa and others when I go to Gunbroker. I have been told that they all come from the same place GSG but that may or may not be true. Any guidance on this would be great.
Thanks

I'm not sure about the others, but I Have a GSG 1911 and it's a great shooting 22LR.I don't think you would be disappointed with GSG.

Thanks, are the magazines interchangeable from one brand to the other?

I have no idea if mags are interchangable. You might do a search on mags and it should say what pistols they fit.

I know a couple of guys who have the basic Browning 1911-22 and they speak highly of it.

Buddy has thw Browning and loves it. Had some shop make a custom part or two for it.
My. .22 1911 is a reg frame w a Kart 6" slide IMHO the best of that type.
Some guys I know are happy w their Marvel conversions.

The Kart is kinda like a Smith 41 in that the sights dont move during cycling.

I've got a Nelson, same thing (pretty much). Designed by Marvel. Both are reputed to be very accurate, but require the expense of a lower (not an issue if you already have a 1911). I also have the Browning 1911-22. Like it a lot. It's an 85% copy (size wise), so no parts are interchangeable with a regular 1911. Mine shot way high, could have sent it back but modified a tritium front sight for it (if not a Novak cut it's very close). Others have had this issue, but I believe it is pretty rare. Fun, handy, like the size but unlike the above it is in the plinker category accuracy wise. Extremely reliable, don't think I've ever had a failure with it. Gsg makes the Sig version, and I think the Colt? The GSG and the Sig use the same magazine, but am not sure about the others. A lot of reviews over at rimfirecentral; https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=296Jerry

GSG does make the Sig, but the Colt is made by Walther.
I have both. My "Colt Gold Cup" was made by Carl Walther in Germany per markings on the side of the frame. Some of the parts are interchangeable with regular 1911 parts. For instance the grips. However the magazines are unique to the Walther as far as I know.

I have a GSG 1911-22. It is an inexpensive handgun, but is quite accurate and has a good trigger. We’ve fired several thousand rounds through it. It is a good practice pistol.

I picked up a new in the box Beretta 1911 .22 cal that I really like! It's small and compact, for what it is, but it's nice! To me the Original Colt 1911, is one of John Browning's greatest inventions! And he Had Many! With his over 120 patent's!!!

Thanks guys keep it coming. For some reason I never thought to look at RFC. I guess I always go there for rifle information and didn't think about them for pistol info.

The old Marvel conversions are totally solid. Mine is set up for hi vel and runs like a sewing machine if kept clean. They’re so good that they deserve a dedicated lower.

Alukban, One thing I see on your Marvel that I like better than my Nelson is the Bomar rear sight. Gives you a lot of sight options... such as a Bomar tritium rear. Jerry

Well I went to the local GS yesterday and they had an ATI and a Colt 1911 -22 that they had just got in. After picking them both up and looking them over, I bought the ATI. The Colt did not have a beavertail safety, or a light weight hammer. It also had black on black sights which to my old eyes are hard to see. The ATI had a beavertail safety, light weight hammer and 3 dot sights (although small dots they are better than black on black) Got it home and loaded it up and was very impressed with the accuracy with some Blazer ammo. I did have a feeding issue or two with the first couple of mags out of it, but it seemed to smooth out the more I shot it. Now to find some more mags for it. That was a little letdown that it only comes with one mag.

I had a Walther 1911 22lr that was well built and quite accurate. It was VERY ammo sensitive with CCI mini mag and Remington Golden being the two that I trusted.
