Who says a guy doesn’t need turrets on a 300 Savage for a 60 yard shot outta a deer blind.

Our season starts August 15th and they are already starting to come in. This set-up came in this morning. Aside from the sh*t scope itself, what is wrong with these pictures? Needless to say, it won't even bore sight.

You're just not hip - those are air-cooled scope mounts......

Having worked with Nikon for over 10 years (not anymore), I doubt you will have any issues with your Buckmaster scope and if you do, a lifetime warranty. Of course with them out-of-the-scope business, who knows?
You will love the Optika5 on your .308, You can use Stelok Pro to dial in the ballistics for whatever reticle option you have. Just like the Buckmaster, I doubt the L. will have any issues with the 45-70. They are fun to shoot and I really enjoy hog hunting with big bore rifles. My favorite the past 2 years is my Brown Precision .375 H&H with a MeoStrar R1 1.5-6x42. When you pull the trigger on it there is always something to haul off. I have even whacked a few coyotes with the .375 H&H.

Saw a guy at the range one day trying to sight in his "custom 300 Ultra Mag" with his hand loads and a nice scope (don't remember what brand) but everything he had was top notch. He could not get it to group worth a crap and was asking me what I thought.
I took a quick look and told him that his rings were not high enough and that the bell of his scope was riding on the barrel. His reply was "well I ain't changing that", to which I replied "good luck" and went back to my bench and finished shooting.
Can't help some people.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Pullit, lmao. I have run across all manner of improperly mounted scope and found that is a rarity that the issue is actually the optic, no matter who makes it. With all the videos and information available it seems like not mounting an optic correctly is pure laziness. That being said, I have friends that I am sure have never heard of youtube. Having the correct equipment including a torque wrench is important to doing the job correctly and having a positive result at the range and in the field. FYI- (lol) trying to bend out 1 inch rings to use on a 30mm tube, no the best move!

I was at the range one day when the range master stopped a guy about to touch off a .30-06 that he had somehow mounted a 3/4” old Weaver .22 scope to with about a 2” eye relief. Can you say eyeball to the ocular! Ouch.

Local smith sent me a picture years ago of a scope with BC flip ups on it. But both ends had the red push button. Bet that made for a speedy employment....

Not a gunsmith but I was watching a couple old timers sight in a .308 at 25 yards. Every time they changed the scope settings the bullets went the wrong direction. Seems the gun shop owners son mounted the scope 90 degrees off, the elevation wasn’t on top but the left side of the scope and the windage was on top. I loosened the rings turned it around and it worked fine. The gun shop charged him $25 to mount and I bet they used $50 worth of ammo before I straightened it out.

I saw a fellow in his late 60s to early 70s last pre deer season at the range. Not sure what his rifle was but it was a fairly recent inexpensive bolt rifle with a really crappy injection molded stock that was very flexible in the forearm. He said he didn't like how the stock was so flexible so his solution was to slip a hose clamp over the barrel and stock and cinch it down tight. Off course he painted the clamp black to look better. He was sighting in dead on at 75 yards because that's how far he shot most of his deer at. he had about a 2 -3" group and was very satisfied he was ready to shoot his deer.

When I was a kid I had an old Crosman pellet gun, no scope mounts, I remember drilling 2 pieces of hardwood for the scope tube. And the barrel and splitting it afterwards with a handsaw adding a 10/32 to each block to make 2 mounts for a cheap daisy scope. That thing really was a tack driver. Never kept it long enough to know about humididty/temp swing effects.
