On the property I hunt turkeys on. Right behind the owners house standing in front of a mister. He won’t let me hunt deer there. 😢

my yard is fairly wooded and has a spinkler system...

the deer have been laying in the shade even with the sprinkler on, when it gets hot enough... particular over 100 degrees which we have been having a bunch of....

Maybe that's how it's done there, but things are a little different here.

I think I'd take a pass on that.

The problem with hunting this deer, and a couple of others, is location. The land owners 40 some acres is surrounded by more private land.
Have not gotten permission to hunt any of it but this tract. But only for turkeys. 😬 I have tried , even helping rebuild a deck on his house last year.
He has a nice size group of deer there, see lots of does with fawns this time of year. Some bucks, but this one is the best I have seen there. He seems to be young too. He will be bigger as time goes on and will tease me every time I see him
Like Fireball said the heat is making them do stupid things, normally I would only see him early of late, if at all.
As I get older I don’t hate deer as much as I used to, and enjoy watching them a lot.

Saw this big boy walk through my jobsite today. Real nice 4x4 frame with 2 1/2" eyeguards, and time to grow some more.

There is one just like him, plus some with bigger racks, and some with smaller racks, over here in Colonial Valley, hanging around the front yards in the shade on Soldier Creek Rd....

I've got pics of the one I think who has been fathering all of these nice bucks, biggest buck with the largest rack I've seen on any black tail still alive, kinda like those mounts you see that were taken in the 40s and 50s....

I just know how to post them over on the Campfire..... if you send me your email, I'll send them to ya and evidently you know how to post the pics
on the campfire here...

This was taken during deer season... with the genes this guy has, I gave him a pass....

This was taken in the yard....walked up within 20 yds of him, with him looking right at me..

This is when he decided to get up on his feet, and then he just starred at me for 10 minutes...

Last night saw 7 bucks in the neighbor's yard, on the golf course....

Eastern count, because I'm an east coast guy ( Virginia)...

a 10 point, 3 eight points, two 6 points and one 4 x 4.... I'll bet the deer above is the dad of each of them....

I always see black tail bucks in July any time of the day. Come September, they turn into night critters .
