I've used a cheap Hamilton Beach for years. The secret is to put the whole thing in the freezer and close the door on the cord because the colder the maker the better it works.

From experience. ...,,,Get on eBay and buy an older White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer. Make sure it’s pre 2005 when they were bought out and went to China. May be pricey but well worth the investment. I’ve had the same one for over 30 years.

This.

My mom has a pile of ice cream freezers from over the years.

Pops just keeps putting them up in the shed. 😂

I helped him a while back change a piece of tin that a limb went thru. One freezer was up in the rafters that you couldn’t see. He said “i knew i put that out here” 🤪

Now she uses a Lil one that doesn’t use ice.

You prefreeze the bowl. Doesn’t make a big helping that the one does. But is quick.

We got a chicom White Mountain a few years back. Don’t use it but a few times a year but it works fine. Guess we will see in 20 years…

This.

Another vote for this idea. White Mountain freezers were always the best.

Seems like a NO BRAINER

You did say best for newb:

$28

And it’s electric

OMFG

oh no it might be made in china and triple God forbid, it’s sold via Walmart. The Great Satan of retail.

$28 bucks

400 reviews, 4-1/2 stars

Use it a few times, if it burns your conscience after 4 or 5 years of reliable service OR if one of your Bud Light drinkin in-laws see it and heaps ridicule on you for not owning a White Mountain....you can tuck tail and haul it out to the curb. Ya know, the same Darrell that can barely afford his $800 payment on his new Silverado.

Oh!!! And Free Shipping too!!! What a rip off.

We got the Cuisinart 1.5 quart last year. So far we’ve made blackberry, strawberry, and lemon ice cream. Works great.

Took my kids to a science fair.
They were making ice cream using a metal bowl and liquid nitrogen. Took about 1 minute per batch including pouring in the ingredients.

It was pretty neat, Ice cream tasted just fine

Family story. When my wife and I were dating/engaged and attending my family cookouts in 1993, my Dad would always get the White Mountain ice cream maker hand crank that he got in 1960’s and tell her she had to take her turn on cranking if she was to get any ice cream. Of course he waited for the last 15 minutes of Hard cranking to give her a turn. She never complained. We married in 1994 and in 1995 my wife bought me an electric powered crank White Mountain ice cream maker and proudly invited my parents over for dinner and told my Dad that modern technology had its advantages… that she did not any help with cranking the ice cream!!
I still have both White Mountain Ice cream makers and both still work great.
P.S. still married to her as well

My dad has two White Mountains. Had the family together for the 4th and used them both. Proud to be American!
