make the 700 CDLs again (remington haters not withstanding). Hoping to see a blue/wood 35 whelen, that is if the quality is there.

If I were the king of New Remington, that would be one of the models I started with as my “nice one”, but I’d do it in SS. Always preferred that look to the BDL.
I’m a semi-hater. I hate what they did for about the last 20 years or so, even to the 870.
What fresh Hell is this?

Remington making the CDL's is (IMO) a given. Being made in .35 Whelen, don't hold your breath.

They will start with good basic calibers, then throw in a few of the new whiz bangers like 6.5 etc. Basic guns first with just afew nicer ones that will be hard to find

Yeah id say they will start back with the basic cartridges chambered in a few of their popular 700 models but once they get rolling i would not be surprised if they offered a rifle chambered in .35 Whelen as they have done in the past......I will be curious to see what kind of quality we will see out of the new Remington 700's, if they do it right I think they will have a good market.....Hb

The CDL sort of reminds me of a slightly beefier stocked 1980s mountain rifle.

They'll probably bring back the CDL. They won't chamber it in .35 Whelen for many years if ever. It will still suck. Life will go on.

With all the established brands in the market today, who cares is Remington captures their glory. A company who went bankrupt because they refused to spend 5 cents per rifle in the mid 60s. My first rifle was a BDL and they are solid guns. However, I never expect Remington to return to thier flawed glory days

Last time they did blued Whelan CDLs they had to clearance them out on gunbroker. I picked one up for around $400 new. I put it in an Alaskan Ti stock and put a 6x42 leupold on it. It shot 250g Hornady sp's at 2600 fps over rl15 under 1 moa. Someone on the fire talked me out of it IIRC. Bb

I would think the demand for the 35 Whelen is very low, compared to quite a few other chamberings.

Even though I don't need another '06 if the whelen would not be available I could make good use of the '06 for the hunting years I have left.

Always liked the look and lines of classic series and would have picked one up in any reasonable deer caliber. Alas, I'm a lefty so......................

The cdl would be even nicer if they would change out the 4" thick recoil pad to something thinner

Are Model 700’s being produced now? I saw 2 700 ADL’s in my local Walmart for $389 and a new CDL at Sportsmens Warehouse this weekend (I didn’t see the price but it was a .270, I believe). Wouldn’t be old stock, would it?
