I have the sig-sauer /browning early version that I carried for years as my duty gun. still have the callous on my hand that formed from fast reloads. browning on one side of the slide and sig-sauer on the other. nice blue finish that wears really well. it even feeds empty cases, so nothing EVER fails to feed. enjoy for life time. put them all in the ten ring.

The SIG P220 is the only handgun Ive handled that felt as good to me as a K-Frame S&W..

It just feels like home....

The P220 was 90% of a 1911 done right. But they feucked up the trigger with that stupid European DA/SA crap.
They came so close....

Plenty of SAO 220s.

We had one in 38 Super in the shop once. It had a strange stepped down slide up at the muzzle. I almost bought it, but didn't.

My first centerfire handgun was a Law Enforcement trade in P220.

Really fine firearm that ate any ammo I fed it.

Like a dumbass I sold it, to get a .357 Ruger wheel gun!

Ja, I also carried a Browning BDA .45 early in my uniformed career. Quit using it when I got a new patrol car with wrap around bucket seats. Occasionally the heel mag release would rub on the seat when I exited the vehicle and the mag would eject from the holstered gun! About the 3rd time I came back to the car and found the mag sitting on the seat I traded it off.

Also had an opportunity to purchase one in .38 Super but turned it down. Gun was cheap was ammo was way expensive at the time!

And I'm with Ingwe on the fit. S&W round butt K-frames fits me best but the P220 was the only semi-auto that ever felt comfortable in my grip!

17 SIG Swiss/German/DE-X/US P220's in possession in 9x19,7.65x21,38Super,40S&W,10mm,45ACP,22LR

Only the P220 9mm Steyr has eluded capture.

No carry models in possession.

The P220R 5 10mm are second to none for a 10mm platform capable of handloaded 180's @<1500fps....& reloadable after the fact.(do not attempt that feat w/ a sub standard unsupported chambered pistol....or attempt in a 3rd gen S&W)

For a softer shooter purchase/install a Sprinco Recoil system that utilizes the OEM multi strand recoil spring which can also be used in a P227 or a P226.

The DPM twin recoil spring system in any SIG Classic P series pistol is total JUNK.

garandimal,
FYI
The SIG P Series Classic SAO thumb safety blocks trigger bar movement only & does NOT block the hammer or sear.
