I own a 20 inch 99E in 308 with a Monte Carlo stock. Happy with it, but I would like a 99 308 with a longer barrel. I have seen a few 22 inch models for sale on websites over the past year, but never a 24 inch bbl 308 with a factory Monte Carlo stock.. (I saw one that had sold on an old auction site that claimed to have been 24 inch, but I don’t know for sure if it actually was that length.) Does anyone know for sure, if Savage manufactured a 99 24 inch barrel monte carlo stocked 308? If not, I'll give up my quest and look for a 22".
The 99DL's had 24" barrels the first couple of years they were made. So you're going to be looking for one made 1960-1962. It will be cut checkered, so that's nice.
After that they were all 22" barrels.

I prefer the 22" barrel as well. I have a crispy cut checkered 308 DL with 22" barrel. Only made in that configuration in 63. I looked a looong time for that gun.

I had a 1961 with cut checkering and a barrel of 24". Never could warm up to it so it went down the road 6 or 7 years ago.
