iSeeCars.com's analysis of some 470,000 2019- and 2020-model-year cars listed for sale in June found that the gap between used- and new-car prices had shrunk considerably in recent months. In early November, the average lightly used car cost nearly 11% less than its new counterpart. In June, that gap was just over 3%.
Some especially popular models — ones that are hard to find new right now — cost thousands more on the secondhand market. See the list of 16 vehicles below. 1. Kia Telluride

Little brother bought a brand new Silverado Trail Boss edition just before Covid hit. Had 20k miles on it - they have him 10k more than he paid for it. Bought it outright. Not traded in.
Took the money to a different dealer and bought a Jeep.

Was getting an inspection done the other day at my dealer, and the general manager asked if I was interested in selling my F350 dually 4x4... Out of curiousity, I asked what it was worth? He offered more than I paid for it in 2017... Told him I'd better not, as I needed it.

My son bought a 2012 Regular cab Cummins with a 6 speed manual and 37K miles last year for about 30K,private party sale. He's been offered 40K numerous times for it but couldn't replace it. Our neighbor paid 55,000 for a 2017 Cummins Dually new, and the trade in is more than that now. Hard time to be buying a truck.

2018 AWD Jeep Renegade Latitude, bought in early 2020 with 18k miles on it for $16,000. Less than 20k miles on it now. Last week was told current trade-in value is 21,000 - $22,000 range.
Several large local dealerships have been taking out full page ads in area newspapers devoted exclusively to wanting to buy used vehicles.

saw a video where a guy wrecked his Jeep Gladiator and bent the front axle. The insurance company totaled the car because they couldn't get parts for it.
My wife loves her low mileage 2014 car, but if I could get what I paid for it , I'd sell that in a heart beat. Let her drive my car for a couple of years until this market straightens back out.

The price of a new Toyota Camry has increased almost 50% in 4 years. And there's no dealing with those azz holes.

My daily driver has been a ‘99 Tacoma since circa 2000 when my ‘87 Taco got t boned
I jokingly refer to it as the pride of the fleet. Though truth be told I prefer it over my wife’s ‘15 Taco.
Youngest son bought a ‘99 Taco, same color as mine btw, recently for 16K 🤦🏼♂️ Wtf says I, that much for a ‘99 ?
But it’s tricked out for serious off roading, body sharp & appears to be well maintained other than a cv boot & perhaps cv axle needing replaced.
So imo he’s got a better truck & spent a lil under half for a new one. His brother in law the mechanic loves it
Musta got his smarts from his mom. Plus his is a six banger mine just a four, it is nice the extra power.
His buddy got a ‘73 Ford F-250. Can’t blame either one of them. Old school rules
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

ATV's/UTV's are crazy prices now too.
I have a really nice Honda Rancher ATV that is now worth twice what it was a year ago. Probably more than twice.

I was thinking take whatever the insurance company gives you to let you keep it and then wait for parts to become available at least

Traded in a 3 year old Tacoma, dealer gave me 40K for it. Window sticker still in the glove box MSRP $38k. The weird thing is, there are still new Tacomas on the lot here, not sure why anyone would rather have a used one.

Around here, if the value is more used then new... it will just increase chances of it getting stolen, by some Beavis and Butthead meth heads...

Was looking to replace my 12 year old Yukon this year, but I guess not, can't find anything I want to replace it, and prices are crazy.
