Looking for a new load for my 25-06 for groundhogs. Thinking of using 75 gr. bullet. What's your opinion for good bullet and load for 75 gr. bullet? Looking at Hornady 75 gr. V-Max or Hornady 75 gr. hp. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

75 V-Max should be good.

They are pretty fragile, wont get deep on a coyote if an onside shoulder is struck.

But if I were messing w another 25-06 I would give the 90 grain Sierra Blitzking a try.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!!!

We killed a lot of coyotes with the 90g Sierra hp and the Blitz king should be even better! We also used 100g Sierra btsp and Speer 100g btsp

Tried 90 gr. Sierra long time ago. My 25-06 didn't like them. Have been shooting 100 gr. Hornady Spire point. Shoots those good. Was wanting to shoot a lighter varmint bullet, like the 75 gr. More speed and flatter. Anyone have any 75 gr. V-Max?

FWIW,
My .25-06 doesn't get shot a whole lot anymore, but, I'm currently running 85 grain Ballistic Tips for coyotes and groundhogs (not many of those left anymore, due to the coyotes), and 100 grain Partitions for everything else.

Both are very accurate in my A-Bolt II and, as or more importantly, POI is VERY close.

I've shot a few 'yotes with the 85, but think it's a bit "hard" for the purpose (I like to see large holes and, preferably, mushroom clouds where coyotes are concerned, no, I don't save hides). Soooo, I'm gonna give the 90 Blitzking a whirl next go round. It's close enough to 100grains that I'm hoping it retains the same POI characteristics, I think it'll be a bit "softer" per my experience with 100 grain SGK's, and it has a touch more BC than the 85 so it may land a bit faster at a few hundred yards (need to run the numbers on that, have a duplex reticle, so it won't really extend my practical range).

If I weren't concerned about my varmint load having roughly the same POI out to a couple hundred yards as my game load, I'd run 75 V-Max's.

Just loaded up 500 rounds of 25-06 with both 75 gr v-max and HP. My Sendero shoots the v-max and my 700 BDL shoots the HP. Great luck with both, using IMR4350.
