99 C 243 Win sn A340xxx on the lower LH rear corner of the receiver .22 inch barrell w/boss at the rear
sight which is folding leaf .Front sight is gold bead on a removable ramp. 99C marked on LH front
receiver ring. Stock and forarm are pressed skip line checkering .No swivles Wood style is same as the
1st two guns on Page 3-68 of Murrey's book .Stock has aluminum but plate w/Savage indian head.
Tang has gold cocking indicator and slide safty.Also gold trigger and damascend bolt.Scope mount
is B&L adjustable W/B&L 8A Balavar 2.5-8 scope .Scope and mount look like new .Lever case
hardening is thin on the corners .Bluing is a little thin on LH side of the breach at the corners ,
several flecks of rust on this side otherwise bluing is very good .Bore is bright.LH side panel of the
stock is worn at the edge otherwise finish is very good .The gun has the improved trigger and the
action can not be closed w/o cocking.There is no date code on the lever boss .

Would like to get any info on the date of manufacture seems like it would fall in the 1975 to 1980 time
frame .Paid $ 275 w/out a clip.

The serial number puts it around 1970 but the details sound more like 1973. With the scope and mounts... you got a good buy...enjoy.

Thanks Rick I am very happy with this buy . This makes my third 99 , the others are a 99 DL 243 win and a 99E 308 win both very clean . I replaced the 99E stock with factory monty carlo walnut and I'm pleased with the outcome .This one had been in the back window of a pickup in S Texas long enough to remove all of the finish .Looks a lot better now .
