I’m putting together a Ruger 10/22 for a little target shooting. Nothing serious, just for fun. Hammer forged factory barrel with a laminated tumble hole stock. What’s a good one to buy?

The heavy ruger bolt slamming back and forth can tear up a cheap scope, so get a scope that has a life time warranty.

BSA while not popular here in the USA is very popular in Europe. I saw a new one for sale over on Accurateshooter.com. 8-32 or something like that.

I think it seems that the BSA isn’t a popular option around here.
There are several Chinese BSA scopes that might suffice for a 22.
I love the old steel tube Weaver scopes, but technology from the 50’s is behind even cheap scopes. If it were anything over a 223 I don’t think the current crop of Chinese scopes would be acceptable. However, give them five more years…..

The Chinese build scopes to whatever quality and price point the OEM demands, just like the Japanese.
I'm no fan of China, but if the scope is a POS it's because that's what was spec'd.

I have a couple 10/22’s with Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 with AO that I like for target shooting.

John Boy: Don't overlook the Weaver V-16's - these 4 to 16 power variables have served me well for a very long time on several of my rimfire Rifles.
Sadly they are no longer made and you will have to look on the used market, but often, good deals can be found on these.
Good luck with whichever you choose.

If you're planning to do any of that target shooting offhand you’re gonna want a variable or no more than a 6x. I just out a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9 on my 10/22 CSC, and it’s perfect. If there’s any issue from the 100 yard parallax setting, I didn’t see it.

I also have a steel-core polymer buffer pin. Makes the action quieter and should help with the scope-killer thing:

Center Point. Cheap but will hold up to air guns. WalMart or Academy sells them.

What kind of target shooting and what range. Don't discount " just a 22" what's your budget?

Here are some of what I have..on a gun or looking for a home...I tend to just buy cool scopes.

Custom 504, Lilja barrel. Sightron SIII 6-24x

Custom Rem 581..Anschutz barrel..Leupold custom shop 6-18x

Ruger LVT...Leupold MKAR 4-12x

Ruger 10/22 Clearidge 3-9x32 AO

Anschutz 64 MS sightron SII 6-24x

Savage Anschutz sightron SII 4.5-14x

Rem 582 Leupold 4X Rimfire Special

Vintage Tasco 2-7 AO
Vintage Tasco Japan fixed 4X AO
Weaver CT15x AO
Bushnell 10x Silhouette
Bushnell banner 4-12× AO

AO down to at least 25, 10 is better is important.

Clearidge is made by LOW like the discontinued Weavers..have to buy direct..I think their inventory is lacking right now. Very similar to Weaver classic V series.

Budget and use will dictate ..

If you can find them (the prices have been going up fast the last few years) the older Leupold M8 straight powers work great on .22s (6X compact AO, 7.5x, 8X, 10X, 12X) are great target scopes for informal or formal target shooting FWIW.
