Pools are high maintenance.
Little too much chlorine, or an extra chromosone or two, and it can go to hell in a hurry!

We have a pool, but it is a saltwater pool. Less maintenance. Just add a 40# bag of salt every now and then that costs about $5 at Sam's or Walmart. Nice in the deep South. We've swam in February and in November. We also have a pool heater, and use a roll up solar cover. We don't like to swim if the air temp is below about 75 though, it gets chilly getting out.

I've had a few swimming pools and they are a pain in the ass with upkeep but they sure are a heckuva lot of fun.
Disabled or not, intentionally breaking beer bottles in a swimming pool is cause for an ass whipping.
