13 months in Vietnam was not an adventure--it was combat.
10 months refitting a 43' sailboat in Puerto Vallarta--that was an adventure. Sounds arduous and fraught with danger.

Around about 2002 I decided I was going to look back in my old age and be able to say "I did" rather than "I should have". Haven't gone to war, but haven't said no to any adventure since.

spent about 2 weeks in Costa Rica with a group of friends(barely knew them). It was a short notice trip, threw some money together and went. Early 20's and still very naive about the world. Saw and did all kinds of things that I didn't even know existed, really hadn't been outside of the US at all and at that barely left the tristate area where I grew up. We were working with locals on a medical mission, got a feel for how people live outside of our developed world. Stayed at a retired teacher's house who turned out to be a gun runner( found out the last night we spent there when he showed us his inventory). It didn't involve any women, it was just an event that opened my eyes to the world and can honestly say I was a different person when I arrived back on American soil. I can't say it was my greatest adventure, my cup has been overflowing for longer than I could possible imagined or deserved, but it was up there at the top. One month later went to Brazil on a similar trip. That one was just as good but in my memory not quite as sweet.

Hunting Eland in Northwestern Namibia in 2019. Tracking a group of 4 Eland bulls and getting close to spotting them in range. Just as we approached them, a large male Lion decided he wanted them to himself. Rather than risk a Lion charge, we backed out. That same trip, heard dogs barking where there shouldn’t be any. Turns out two native poachers were trespassing and had just killed a Warthog. Tense moment with safeties off while they decided if they wanted to shoot it out or surrender. Lucky for them they surrendered and the National Police came and arrested them. Turns out one of the poachers was a convicted murderer who just got out of prison after serving a long sentence. Also had some adventures involving Leopards and Cheetahs eating livestock. never a dull moment while hunting in Namibia.

Interesting thread........cant compete with many if any.....
Dont feel I have much excitement to show off here....
Will say the most powerful thing I've seen was the birth of my son.......
Step parenting proved to be quite a challenge.....
What I think has dawned on me the most is how valuable the good book is in dealing with others and life....wish I had been more conscious of that.
Anyway......I could use some new adventure....

So there I was . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .wondering how I had so badly screwed up a pretty decent life. 11 years of Law Enforcement . . . . . . . . pretty decent cop (if I do say so myself ) Marriage on the rocks; hitting the bottle WAY too much; incapable of solving any of the problems in my life, though I was a good problem solver for other folks; respected by my peers. My life was out of control. I realised I had a sin problem. My Catholic upraising was not giving me the answers I needed. Through a way that only God could work out, I was assigned to a burglary at an independent Baptist Church which I easily solved. I shared my life problems with the Pastor. I figured he would give me a long list of things to do to get my life back in order. He didn't give much of a list. The list had one thing on it - - - - - quit trying to work out your life. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and call on him to save you from your life of wickedness. I did it and it has been the beginning of the greatest adventure in my life. Because of that, God got me safely though another 19 years of policing. God called me to preach and to pastor a church which I did for 13 years. By his grace and mercy, I have preached and taught the Bible in areas in the western part of Canada, some of the northern states of the USA, the Philippines, Scotland, and Ireland. I highly recommend the Christian life. What an adventure!

When compared to War, all other endeavors by mankind pale in comparison. This is true, and the truth is most of the hell will never be known to history.

I have experienced no great adventures.

Strictly, an , adventure, is a venture that goes South. Pretty sure that's a misadventure.

There have been multiple people telling lies about me in this thread and you’ve said nothing about their lies so you can pound sand. I’ll keep prepping g for the up coming sheep season while you watch videos about it on YouTube. Get back to me when you’re ready to hold everybody to the same standard. Until then you’re just a jealous, butthurt hippocrate, probably a closet liberal too.
