Saltwater pools are still chlorine pools. They just use salt to make the chlorine. Some people swear by them, a lot of builders won’t build them now. So far, old fashioned chlorine is really easy.

I know . People just go on and on about their salt pools lol It’s still chlorine and you now get more expensive parts to replace with a salt water pool. At least you can open your eyes in one without burning

I grew up with in grounds
Parents and grand parents had them. Lots of money, lots of headaches. Come back from 2 weeks vacation, have to spend 3 days unfûcking the pool.
Rains in Tennessee 3 to 4 days a week in Summer, algae bloom after every rain. Got to where just shocking it every other day plus daily chlorine tabs. Ph UP, ph Down, buffers, bleach, baking soda, clarifiers, algaecides.
$17 bottle of algaecide after every fugging rain
Ants and moles underneath the liner
Wasps and bees, sweat bees
Leaves, pollen tassels, maple helicopters,
Kids leaving floats in, floats blowing all over the yard, kids running through fresh cut grass to retrieve balls and floats, jump back in with grass stuck to feet
Liners blowing out every 4-5 years, decks getting eat up by carpenter bees.
FOUCK IT ALL
Crashed it with the backhoe, grow turnip greens there.

Our Uncle Nudie Butt up in the woods here on the farm. He ran a salt system for about 5 years.
LOL
everything within 20 ft of that pool was eat the hell up with rust, dead zone. The whole thing caved and collapsed one afternoon.
Crunched it up too and loaded it to go to Monster Joe’s with my metal wall too.

It ain't a big pool, and it is heated. Still trying to get it "balanced".... AND KEEP THOSE DRINKS OUT!!! Contractor is coming today to start putting the Lexan top-cover roof and safety railings on. For now, the sides won't be closed in- we'll see..... Yeah, I think it is going to be a pita....

Are “Community “ pools a thing in other parts of the country?
I bet the county i live in ( rural area) has 10 scattered out.

The two neighborhoods (same town) where I grew up kindergarten to grade school, then grade school to college each had swim clubs with paid memberships.

We had a big salt water pool behind our last vacation home, but downsized to a considerably smaller fresh water one in our current...

Started to build an indoor pool into my last house - research shows that it can retain A LOT of humidity inside a home . Can cause lots of health problems too .

Grewup going to the neighborhood homeowners association pool.
Parents put one in when I hit Junior High in 78' also a spa. 4-8ft 25k gal inground gunite. Just had it resurfaced in 2014'
Had some memorable parties in high school
Wife and I decided we never wanted to own one.
Kids always over to the grandparents to swim for the summer or they hit the neighborhood pool.

Yes to a small 18ft above ground. On its way out and no plans for a replacement. Condo in Florida has one for the community. That will have to do.
