Mom and Peepaw just have to get innovative.
Like I said we have a Patel operated Shell gas station across from my favorite DG.
They kero, firewood. kindling, drink soda fountain, frozen Parrot Ice, hot dogs and brat station, a Subway, a BBQ pit, some picnic tables, lottery tickets, they’ll fix you a $3 Dagwood bologna sandwich.
DG has Redbox and just typical DG goods.

I can drive 2 miles to a real grocery store and have groids and wokes treatbme like chit.
Or i can go 1 mile to a DG and have drunks and rednecks treat me at least neutral.
I do hit DG for tape, lightbulbs or pop.....just quick need stuff.
Actually drive 5 miles to a diff grocery store for my main stuff

I could lay on the bank by spillway without a pole and take a friggin nap. Big cat rod and a couple.pbr cans make it look more official.

It is funny about how so many complain so much about joggers and methheads yet choose to frequent their support systems. I worked my azz off so that we don't have to frequent fast food joints, wally's or the $ store. It is great to have choices and the leisure to exercise them.
YMMV
LOL

I see comments like Walmart destroyed the good ol' mom & pops,...,.,. DG.... etc But in actuality, it wasn't them.... it was us SHOPPING at them. If everyone had kept shopping there then they'd still be around. There's a locally owned / run store out by me that I go to first. If they don't have it or can't get it by when I need it I'll go elsewhere. They aren't a 'grocery' store although they have quite a bit. I give em a chance. Farmers Market fairly close as well. And meat/butcher shops as well. I get very little from Kroger and the such. Same w/ fuel, there's a locally owned non-franchise that I give my business to most of the time. Not always the cheapest but close enough for me. Locally owned hardware store around too (actually my son-in-law's dad that owns it). I hit him up before Lowes/Home Depot. But most won't do it.... most want sheer price and convenience. And then they bitch about China, Corporations, etc. Meh. Same with Gun Shops. Had my FFL for over 30 years and turned it all in last year. Keep buying from Buds and other places..... Shops will close. Then when there are only 20 or so 'outlets' for guns.... how easy is THAT to take care of. Sorry, my conspiracy theory self kicked in. I'll shop when I can with my local shops. Then if I HAVE to have it right THEN.... I'll hit wally world. But mostly use DG for sundries not at local shop. I count all these locally owned places as blessings for me. Lotta folks don't have those options anymore. What a sad time
Whether you tell yourself you CAN do it.... or you CAN'T.... you're correct.

I think I've been to DG once in the past year. They just don't have much of anything I want to buy. Not into crappy junk food so drive 30 miles to the grocery store every couple weeks.

You can purchase Pierogies at ours. I do wish they sold ammo and fishing supplies, but I'm sure the Minnesotans would crap a brick if they saw that.
