I had a beautiful K-38 in the gold box with all papers. My 13 year old grandson used it once in a bullseye competition against a few very experienced shooters and he came in second place. As I said I had one once, now he is referring to it a HIS K-38. He did give me a glimmer of hope to one day regaining it. He said he would take a K-32 in exchange if I could find and buy one. What a generous lad he is.

Hahahahaha. OMG. Hilarious!

You've so caringly gifted him the generosity gene.

Sweet! Was the seller in northern Florida? Looks just like the one the pawn shop down the street has under glass. I know they sell on line, too.

That’s as nice as it gets. I keep saying I have enough. But that’s one I’ll make an exception for. Waiting for the right one. Needs to have 3 T’s. Hasbeen

Not as pristine, but functional. I picked up this pair of 8 3/8" K guns, .38 Spec and .22 LR, in a trading deal some years ago.

3 "T"'s, except shaped to suit grips, painted with black crinkle paint. It wouldn't be hard to replace those with OEM target grips to restore factory 3 T configuration.

Hawkeye, the seller was in KS.

A Vet, so another +1 win. Judging from his younger'ish age, I'd guess Afghan Vet.

hasbeen, your view depicts mine. Keep saying I've got enough. But, when one this nice comes up at a good price, I justify it with the "investment" tag.

Great snag L.D.

I've been shooting up some old ammo in my 6" 14-3 lately. It doesn't seem to matter what I send down the barrel, that revolver will shoot!

Yep, they do shoot.

Another .22 LR that's really accurate is my Colt Officer's Model Match that I picked up at a gun show some years ago for $400. I like Python grips better than OEM grips.

RipSnort, if I may ask, have you been sending any cast bullets down the chute?

No sir, L.D. Just some old factory Western 158gr. Lubaloy, Winchester 125gr. Silvertip, and, in the last few days, fresh handloads with 140gr. and 158gr. Hornady XTP-HP. Shoots all of them very, very well.

Beg pardon, but isn't that actually a Colt Officer's Model, not OM Match? I have its twin, a .38. Same gun as the OM but with different front and rear sights. Post-war OMM change vs. pre-war OM.

I think you're right. After looking at the Blue Book a bit closer, seems post War is OMM, pre War OM.

This one fits the Officer's Model Target (Third Issue) description pretty close. Those were made '29-'49, the .22LR beginning in '30.

Thanks for that info.

I had an Officer's Model Match and it had the Python-type grips. Ones with the handswell at the bottom. Wish I still had that gun.

Very nice. What about the price back in 1971. If I see it clearly there was a bill in the box. And - did you find the ammo?

My 4 screw K-38 was bought by me as a high schooler back in the early '60's, paid $83. I used it for years, eventually sent it back to S&W for refinish. Still have it, shoots as well as it always did.

Shot a bunch of wheel weight 150's thru that gun with Unique. Killed rabbits, squirrels, feral cats, etc. with that old gun.

Very nice. What about the price back in 1971. If I see it clearly there was a bill in the box. And - did you find the ammo?

Oh dang, thanks for reminding me. It's the original receipt. You guys are gonna laugh.

I'll post it up. smile

Gotta love a K38...I've had several. This one is from '51, with a set of Herrett's stocks.

According to the inflation calculator the 115.50 will be 775 today!

What article was bought for 5.78? I can't read it.

Do you own one or can you get one easily without going to the source? If so, I say yes, if not then I say no.

Hi Bob, beautiful revolvers. The model 10 has a 5" barrel, or is it a 6"? It looks like a 5 to me but I'm not completely sure.

Thank you, it shoots well too. Posted on the last page of the “ Does anyone shoot a 38 special?” Thread.
It is very accurate, especially when you consider the small sights.

Tyler should be if their customer service and lead times are any indication. If you just want to try a T, get a BK adapter, same shape but plastic instead of aluminum. Much cheaper and less time measured in days instead of months to years. If you try it and like it you can hunt up a Tyler to have a metal one.

I ordered a Tyler T-Grip on 18 November 2020. My check cleared my bank a few days later. I have sent them two inquiries with no response. STILL waiting on my order. Since making this order, I have discovered this is common practice for them. It is a con. God only knows how much money Tyler has stolen from people over the years. Some people claim that occasionally they will send out a shipment at random anywhere from a month or so after receiving an order to as much as a year later here and there to "prove" they are acting in good faith. No telling how many multiple thousands of these have been ordered and paid for and never delivered. That is why they do not accept credit cards.

Within the last few months I've ordered a BK grip adapter for a J-frame .22 and a Model 15 K-frame and both arrived in the mail within about 4 days. They went right on with no hassle and fit very well. Cost was $25.00 plus priority mail shipping to total $32.90 each.

I'd never tried a grip adapter before but really like them, they split the difference between the service stocks and full on target style - which cost an arm and a leg these days. They're particularly nice on the J-frame since the stock grips are much too small in the hand. The adapter keeps the slender profile but lets you get a full grip on it, positions the trigger finger better as well.

It's Tyler in name only; Melvin Tyler has been deceased for many years. The person who owns this is some jackass named Mathews, who also owns Mashburn Arms and Gun World of Oklahoma City/Del City, Oklahoma. Melvin Tyler actually had a brick and mortar operation on Britton Road in Oklahoma City and was always a standup guy. This Mathews character has a P.O. box in Newalla, Oklahoma.

As near as I can tell, you'll receive your item at some point. Not any time soon, however.

Elmer, Thanks for the motivation. It has been pouring here almost daily. Fred skirted around the corner on us. That was good news. Now, come to find out Grace is right behind. Geez.

I don't care for indoor ranges. So, that has limited the opportunities. Jones'ing here.

Here's to you finding yourself a nice M1 carbine. Clink. Cheers.

So it appears that California had a five day waiting period all the way back to at least 1971. geez.

Pretty sure that was a Reagan thing...Around '67 or '68 IIRC. Ties into the Mulford Act.
