Have a chance to pick up a supply of R25. Have never used it before. See a lot of mixed reviews on it
Thoughts?

Been using it for years. Used it in the 30-378 Wby and 338-378 Wby. and 300 Win Mag. Probably not as temp tolerant and 26.

I have been using RL25 for years, has a few interesting qualities..........for one it is a slower burn rate than RL26 !!!
It is choosy in the calibers..cartridges it likes, for example with my rifles it shoots awesome in the 338 Lapua but is horrible in my 7mmRem Mag.
People claim Temp sensitive..........not really that much, more lot sensitive. buy 5#,10# at a time

I use it in the 25.06 with 120gr bullets with excellent results. Very accurate and consistent with good velocity.

It's a perfectly functional powder, but not temp stable at all. I have an 8# I got cheap somewhere along the way, and use it for barrel break in rounds for a wide range of cartridges. I would never use it for a hunting load, but many people do use non-stable powders. The closest temp-stable powder is RL23 or H4831(sc).

You are correct - I meant to type H4831(sc)
And they most definitely do have 8#s, or did.

And they most definitely do have 8#s, or did. Nope, wrong again. Alliant's powders made in Sweden such as RL19,RL22 and RL25etc. have always come in 1# or 5#, its their powders made in Switzerland such as RL17 and RL26 that come in 8#

Was getting good performance with RL 25 in my 300 Wby. Worked up a gooder load with IMR 7828 & never looked back.

They have in the past. I have one. That’s pretty cool. I’ve never seen one but 8lbers would sure be nice. I think 26, 33, and 16 are the only Alliant I’ve seen in 8’s. Maybe Unique as well. Must be an old one you’ve got.
