Good evening,
Does anyone have experience using IMR 4166 and the 7mm-08? Specifically, using 140 grain bullets?
If so, what kind of velocity were you seeing?
Thanks

I've played with it in my 308 and got good results. Very similar to Varget, at least in that rifle. I plan to play with it in my 7-08, but haven't yet.

I don't have my data with me, but launched 155s and 168s with it. Not going to be home for a few days, but I'll update this when I can.

7-08, 162 AM Moly-coated, Lapua brass, Fed 210 primer, 40 gr IMR 4166
Results in an average velocity of ~2670 fps from my 22" barrel.

IMR 4166 is right there with IMR 4064. Very little difference in burn rate.
IMHO, It will possible take IMR 4064s place sometime down the road as Hodgdon keeps dropping the old powders and replacing them with the new stuff.

I think Mule Deer said it was very similar to Varget. I have nine pounds of IMR 4166 and hope it works as well as Varget does in my rifles. I have yet to try any.

I’ve got some 4166 to try, but it will have a hard time replacing RL15 or especially Big Game in my 7mm-08’s.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

I'll take Big Game for my 7-08. It's flat out awesome with 150 gr NBT's
