I'm not a bow hunter, but for the first time I'm watching an Olympic archery match.....just naturally comparing.the equipment to what I'm used to seeing on deer bow hunting tv......interested in any comments from the fire bow hunters.

Not watching any olympics. I believe they all use recurve bows and fingers for release. I’ve bowhunted avidly for 43 years and have no comparison to them. And I use a compound which is easier to shoot accurately.

Lighter weight target recurves, finger tabs, light arrows and sights, one stabilizers. Holding full weight at draw
Typical bow hunter higher poundage, wheels or cams so 50 to 80 per cent hold weight, bows are heavier in weight, typically hand held release and pin type sights.
actual shooting form, stance, release, follow through basically the same

I was gonna watch it but decided to watch shart things videos instead. I'm taking a course on abnormal psychology at the local university, and I need to write a term paper.
Those videos and the accompanying posts are a treasure trove. Delusions of grandeur defined.

If there isn't a pile of corn in front of the target and a golf cart to get back and forth the only true bowhunter on this site will not be interested.

i have watched the the archery Olympics in the past and have always enjoyed them and i wish i was that talented with a recurve bow . and yes i plan on watching them again . America has some very talented archers too so i enjoy watching archery. also have been to Vegas and watched all the archers there too . the Pro`s are fun too watch ,those compound bow companies really try to win the big prize of 1st place , i always enjoyed when a small time Pro beat them all like Dave Barnsdale did with his own brand bows 3 times at Vegas , so these big bow companies called Barnsdale bows the other bow , bow manufactures did not want Barnsdale bows getting popular.

Very disappointing for USA men and women. The door was open, both #1 (Korean) seeds where put out early and we could not get it done. Too bad, both Mac and Brady seem like genuinely good people. Hopefully they can come back in 3 years.

Well, for one thing they’re holding the bow sideways. There’s no stirrup for your foot to fit in when cocking it, no trigger, and no scope. WTF kinda bow is that?
What fresh Hell is this?

I know a lot of guys mess with them with hunting recurves and Long bows. To me it is opening a can or worms that doesn't need opening. But to each their own.

They are just a tool. Much like adding a sight to your recurve for a while. You can learn a lot in a hurry.

I watched some, pretty cool to watch. Their form and releases are amazing.
